hay scratch this guy i am working ofr over the summer is from Escanaba in UPPER MICHIGAN know im saying.
I sure do LJ I was born in Escanaba.
I've been to Escanaba many times. Great place, Great fishing, as is all of da U.P.
He talks lots about the Outdoors and the Fishing and thats how you gets me Attention on things know im saying. I gots to checks me out that U.P. some time with N. Minnesota and NEW BRUNSWICK i gots me lots of places to visits and see some time.
Thunderhead Ever been to Curtis in the UP used have an aunt and uncle that lived there. Myself I was born and raised 28 miles south of Ann Arbbor. Smokey
smokey, closest I've been is Gould City and McMillan. I sometimes camp in Thompson and take day long fishing trips from there, but I haven't been on the Manistique lakes yet. I have a ton of relatives from Imlay City and Lapeer about 50 miles north of Detroit. About 25 years ago a bunch of us from central Wisconsin and those in lower Michigan decided to get together for a week of camping in the U.P. every year. I'll be going up in July, so I'll try to swing through Curtis to check it out.
hay THUNDERHEAD and scratch we gots us a group of 6 peoles to goes on a Road Trip and I am a little afraid about that much money but with 6 guys we knows how to lives cheap for that but I thinks I can pulls that shit off and missing school for 4 days will be bad to but I wants to go on tht Road Trip. I was wanting to goes to Carolina but Dwayne and and Jeb wants to goes to UPPER MIHCIGAN and I thinks that is cool to. Dwayne gots friends at Wisconsin in the Frat to stays with f ro a night and me friend Evan is from Grand Rapids MI where him Grandparents lives so we going to drives up aroudn the Lake to see the Picture Bear Dunes Lakeshore or whatever and fish a little bit and goes to the Ford Library and shit and I was just wondering on what you guys thinks about that and maybe if you gots recommendations. hay thanks
Little Jim I think you will really enjoy the trip. Get a chance to see a part of the country that you havn't seen before. Just one recemadation is to take along a couple long sleve shirts for the evenings and a jacket or a sweater as it gets chilly up there this time of the year.
Lj, highway 35 and U.S. 2 has some great scenery along Lake Michigan. If you get around Manistique and get hungry, stop at the Sunshine Cafe just outside town on U.S.2. Good food and cheap prices. JUst make sure you eat before you get to mackinack bridge. Everything there is expensive. The bridge is awesome, i've been over it many times and it's still freaky looking down on the water. They got good walleye fishing on little bay de noc, a few miles above escanaba. I haven't been to the dunes in a few years, but the last time , I had a few beers and decided to run all the way down them. I got about four steps and went ass over tea kettle the rest of the way. I'm still shitten sand. If you are going through central Wisconsin and see a guy sitting in his backyard around a campfire drinking a beer, stop in. I always have a few extras. Have a good and safe trip, and watch out for the deer and bear in northern Wisconsin. They like to play chicken with cars.
hay smokey and THUNDERHEAD thanks for that. We gots the shit confirmed now and we gots us a carload of 5 and we is leaving the first thing on Sunday morning and coming back next weekend. We going to Saint Louis in Sunday cause me Aunt lives there and she is cooking u p some fixings and then we is going to Madison on Monday to party up there and then we is going to Green Bay and LAMBEUA FIELD baby and then Dwayne done says he wants to hikes the HIGHPOINTS or something so we is going to Tims Mtn in WI and Arvon Mtn in MI or somthing. And we aint going to does us any fishing this time but I will come again for that . And I am going to makes sure we drives the US2 and Hwy 35 in UPPER MICHIGAN. And we willdo the Mackinac and Ford Library adn then Dwayne gots a friend in Indy so we going to chills there adn then busts ass home after that. I am going to tries to gets our asses to the SUNSHINE CAFE adn I will posts a picture of that. Is the leaves turning colors up there yet.
Thanks.
LJ I know I am a smart ass but you get that from age. When you take Hwy 2 to the bridge take your time and enjoy the scenery and watch out for local yokels on the way, wouldn't want you to pay to much for the sights. If you can take the boat over to Macinaw Island and see the Island I think you will enjoy it. By the way my mothers family was one of the 16 orginal settlers of Green Bay.
hay scratch I likes the PACKERS even thogh they ain't me favorite team but I thinks everybody likes the PACKERS a little unless they is from Chicano Illinois. The PACKERS is cool cause they is the small town team from teh FROZEN TUNDRA ;ublic owned know I'm saying. It's going to be a good trip but we is going tostruggles to lives the trip on the Cheap.
Lj, you picked a good time to be going to Madison and Green Bay. Mad City will still be partying after they beat Arizona, and it's always a week long party after The Pack stomps the Bears. Just be careful of the pissed off Bears fans headed back to Chicago. The weathers been kind of warm lately, 40 degrees at night, 70 during the day, so it might be a little early for the leaves to change. The wife tells me the eating place is called Sunrise Cafe. I told her she was full of shit. I been there about 40 times, she has only gone 5 times. So we got a little bet going on it. It's the only cafe on U.S. 2 as you are leaving Manistique, so you can't miss it. Have a great trip!!! :xyxthumbs
LJ let us know when you get back and your impression of that part of the country. And don't feed the bears.
I'm going to does that I'm gong to haves fun and these is good guys to go does that with but this is a bad time and I will miss 1 week of work and 1 week of school and this is tough to do. and I reckons we is all in the same boat a little bit and everyone done promised to lives cheap just one Motel room a night to split the rate and cheap food and we is taking Jebs rig which is a little better for the Gas. Plus we gots places to stay in Saint Louis and Madison and Grand Rapids and Indy so we probably only gots to billet 2 nights. So I will tells you how the shit is at the Sunrise Cafe and other places like the Mac Daddy Bridge know I'm saying and wisconsin will definitely beats down on Arizona because the Pac-10 sucks. And we leaves Sunday morning after all the Saturday football action.
Bears 21 - Packers 10 Thats what I get for being cocky.
Damm Bears went and spoiled a perfectly good fooball season. :2gunsfiri
i was just going to says real quick that we is back in Arkansas now and we had a good trip with good weather and we did not spends to much and did not get caught none sneeking 5 peo-ples into the MOTEL 6 and only paying for 1 and that was pretty rad. And we wents to Chicano Illinois and CAMP RANDALL and LAMBEAU FIELD and WATERSMEET HOME OF THE NIMRODS and ESCANABA and MOUNT ARVON and MANISTIQUE to the Cafe and KALAMAZOO and NOTRE DAME and all that shit. Larry was trying to picks up chicks in HOOTERS and that was pretty funny. He's a dork. I likes the U.P. know I'm saying. I thinks I could chills in the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin and places like that. I don't likes me big cities none exept Memphis Tennessee and Nashville Tennessee and I been to Saint Loius and Atlanta and Dallas and now Chicano and Milwaukee and Indy and I thinks I just likes me the smaller towns.
LJ glad you enjoyed your trip. Nice to know you made it back ok. I go along with you on liking the small town living better. Guess maybe because was where I was brought up and what I am used to. I live in a large city now, But still perfer the small town life.
LJ I knew you would like the UP. We call it GOD's country becuase the DEVIL doesn't want it. it's to damm cold in the winter. We call ourself's YOOPERS and the people who live in lower Michigan are called TROLLS.
Scratch you bad. lol I was born and raised with in twenty five miles of Ann Arbor
hay scratch we first went to WINTERMEET like in the ESPN commercials HOME OF THE NIMRODS that was a pretty cool and funny Introduction to the U.P. Then we done gone to L'Anse adn on to Mount Arvon so Dwayne could gets him High Point. And then we stayed the night in Marquette and hung with some chicks from NMU and you knows that Dwayne and Larry is always trying to hits on the women but Jeb and I just chills with our brew and plays the Wall Flower and peopel watch know I'M saying. Then we went to Manistque the next day and the Sunny Shores Cafe and I don't knows me none if that was the right Cafe but I thinks so . And then on to the MACINACK BRIDGE holy ******* shit that is the biggest godam bridge I ever done seen that was ******* cool and it was 82 degrees that day nice in that country I reckons for late Sep. And it was still beautiful country all the way down to Clare. I thinks Michigan an dWisconsin is pretty rad. I likes me all those cool lakes. I needs to takes me another trip up there some day for some capming and some fishing.
I wants to goes on another road trip now.
Lj, You got it right, Sunny Shores Cafe. The old lady and I were both wrong. Glad to hear you survived the trip. We love going to DA U.P. Us Wisconsinites have been trying for years to get them to join our state, but the Trolls ( as scratch put it ) are fighting it because they would lose all that good hunting land. :) The next time you are heading up to Marquette, stop in at DA YOOPERS TOURIST TRAP. One of the guys from DA YOOPERS band owns and runs it. You know, the guys who sing The Second Week Of Deer Camp. He's got some funny stuff there. Also if I can find some time I will post a pic of us in front of Sunny Shores from one of our trips up there.
hay THUNDERMASTER what you thinks about this one. See I done took you advice serious. They had good eats there and that was cheap wich was important to us know I'm saying all 5 of us liked the Sunny Shores. I had the HAM AND CHEESE OMLETTE with an extra side of HAS BROWNS for only $8. I done told the Waitress that is was recommended by somebody from Wisconsin and I even bought a POst Card there.
I done heard on the NPR Radio News today that they is going to closes the E.L.F. Navy system in CLAM LAKE Wisconisn and REPUBLIC Michigan. And I don't knows me none where CLAM LAKE is but we was right by REPUBLIC and if I would have known that that E.L.F. was there we would have gone to see that cause we were right by REPUBLIC and that would have been cool. I am disappointed about that causwe I likes me that Secret Military shit.
hay scratchmaster and THUNDERLOAD know I'm saying.
whats up with your attachments LJ? I can't make them open. Is it just my obsolete OS? maybe win 3.1 doesnt work any more, haha.
LJ you wouldn't have seen the ELF system even if you looked right at.
hay Coffee it says me attachments is Pending Approval. I don't knows me none what that is all about but I hopes Kevin can fix that so you can see the caps.
Hey Lj, what kind of stuff you got on those attachments? They've been pending approval for quite a long time. Maybe the guy who approves them is a Bears fan. :2gunsfiri
there aint nothing wrong with me photo caps. there aint nothing nasty or mean or anything but thisere is one cap of LAMBEAU FIELD so maybe you is right maybe Kevin and rcwinter is hatin on the PACKERS but 1 cap is just Escanaba and 1 cap is just Manistique.
Hey LJ, I see your attachments were finally approved. That pic of Sunny Shores Cafe brought back some good memories. I haven't been to Lambeau Field since they added the new skyboxes. Glad you had a good trip, and thanks for sharing the pics.
im glad them caps finally gots approved. i hads me lots of fun up in WICONSIN and MICHIGAN and ILLINOIS and i will bakc in the North Woods some day but not duing Hunting Season when the Viet cong is in them Deer Stands know I'm saying.
